Arotech Gets $900,000 Order for Batteries, Chargers From an Asian Army

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Defense and security supplier Arotech Corp. (Nasdaq: ARTXD) on Wednesday said an Asian army placed orders worth $900,000 for rechargeable batteries and chargers used in night vision equipment.

The company did not specify which nation’s army placed the order. 

Arotech, of Ann Arbor, Mich., said its Battery and Power Systems unit will handle the order, which pushed the company’s total backlog to $41 million, up from $19 million at the end of June 2005. The company’s shares rose 18 cents, or 7.3 percent, to $2.65 in recent trading on the Nasdaq. In the past year, the stock has moved between $2.25 and $16.66.
